Like most people, my 2010 New Year's resolutions went by the wayside somewhere along the way. But 2011 is going to be my year to:
1) Run a marathon - the whole trying to have a baby (and failing) thing kind of got in the way last year, but I have a plan (and a blog so you all can keep me honest; social accountability goes a long way)
2) Meditate - I have had this same resolution for several years now and I actually did okay with this one in 2010, but my goal is 20 min 2x day; I'm going to start slow this time. I think I've expected too much in year's past, but I've learned my lesson.
3) Get an agent or self-publish - I've written 2 romances and 1 YA; I've started the last of my trilogy of romantic comedies already. So if I can't get an agent for one of those books by the end of the year, I'm going to look into self-publishing. Keep your fingers crossed that I get an agent soon! :)
4) Embrace technology - as my friends know and my students will tell you, technology and I have not always been the best of friends. I don't facebook, tweet, or blog (until now) and if I can get through an entire class period without something going wrong techno wise (clickers don't work, PowerPoint crashes, computer freezes, DVD won't play, etc.), it's a miracle. This is actually a new resolution this year. So I'm blogging, I'm going to set up a Facebook account, and try tweeting in the classroom. Wish me luck that nothing blows up in the process. :)
If you have any advice for any of these goals, please chime in. Thanks for following!
Bravo, Mary! I'm with you. This is a great idea and it will be fun to watch (and help where possible) you meet your goals. 2011 will be much better than 2010.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you have some very impressive goals for 2011. You can count me in for some social accountability and I hope I can count on you for the same. I would also like to start a blog and your blog has been the first step to helping me along the way, so thanks! Keep me posted on the marathon goal, including a location and date when you decide. I do have excellent skills as a water girl.
ReplyDeleteI guess I need to begin by reading your book #2. I am really looking forward to it and hopefully we both find 2011 to be inspiring.
